STVDIO will screen a live performance of Graeme Murphy’s Romeo & Juliet from Melbourne’s Arts Centre on September 21 as part of its Season Ticket initiative, where audiences see world premieres of Australian performances.
It is preceded by the documentary Romeo & Juliet: A New Vision.

Go behind the scenes with The Australian Ballet in the lead-up to the world premiere performance of Romeo & Juliet (screening live at 8pm). Choreographer Graeme Murphy works with dancers and fashion designer Akira Isogawa to produce a new interpretation of Shakespeare’s greatest tale.

Live on stage from Melbourne’s Arts Centre, The Australian Ballet presents Shakespeare’s greatest love story by choreographer Graeme Murphy. Murphy and his production team immerse the star-crossed lovers in grandeur – including costumes by fashion designer Akira Isogawa – in a performance that promises to be a smouldering masterpiece from beginning to tragic end.

I’ve heard this will be replayed on SBS at a later date. Hope that includes the doco too….
In the UK, Europe and US this would be an HD broadcast with 5.1 audio but I am pretty sure that won’t happen here.
