Dance Academy nominated for International Emmy

ABC3’s Dance Academy is the only Aussie show nominated at the 39th International Emmy Awards in New York.

ABC3’s Dance Academy has been nominated for an Emmy award at the 39th International Emmy Awards in the Children and Youth category.

Of the 20 nations represented in the nominees, Dance Academy is the sole Aussie show. It will compete with nominees from Germany, Chile and Malaysia.

Producer and co-creator, Joanna Werner, said: “This is an amazing recognition. All of the cast and crew worked incredibly hard on the filming of Dance Academy and we are extremely proud the series has received this prestigious nomination.”

Controller of ABC TV’s Children Television, Tim Brooke-Hunt, said: “I’m delighted Dance Academy has received this nomination. I’d like to congratulate co-creators Joanna Werner and Samantha Strauss on their achievement. I also acknowledge the role of ABC Children’s TV’s Head of Commissioning, Carla de Jong, in making Dance Academy such a great success.”

The show has been sold to Germany, Ireland, Belgium, France, Finland, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Norway, and Portugal.

Dance Academy series two is currently in post-production and is set to premiere on ABC3 in2012.

The 39th International Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, November 21, 2011 in New York.

  1. OMG!!! That’s some Crazy Shit!!! I can’t believe it LOL! She was at my Skool and she left in Yr 10 she must of then went to pursue an acting career. Good on Her!!!

  2. Hey David i haven’t seen this show but do you know is that girl at the front of the pic Xenia Goodwin if it is i know her!!! That’s Crazy LOL!!!
