New lifestyle show for TEN

TEN is calling for homeowners 'in desperate need of renovating advice and help" for an unnamed new Lifestyle show.

Is TEN planning a Renovators spin-off?

The network is currently calling for homeowners ‘in desperate need of renovating advice and help” for an unnamed new Lifestyle show.

“If you have a DIY job gone wrong, a bad taste interior disaster, or you’re paralysed by ideas and don’t know where to start? Then we want to hear from you! Tell us your renovation budget and we’ll add our design expertise, manpower and materials to help you get the biggest bang for your buck,” says the TEN website.

But be warned. To apply you must own your own home, partake in the renovation and make a financial contribution.

TEN is yet to resolve the future, if any, for The Renovators, but could be able to leverage sponsors to a new programme in the Lifestyle genre instead of Reality.

  1. So there is hope for The Renovators after all! I’d love to see Ten use the judges and maybe even some of the contestants in this series. I really don’t think The Renovators deserved all the negative feedback it received. Sure, it wasn’t a smash hit, but ratings stayed consistent throughout the series and from memory the finale did over a million so there were obviously plenty of people interested in the outcome.

  2. @lin, no i liked The Renovators too. They just needed to show more renovating and get rid of some of the pointless challenges. And it’d be better to not have eliminations or have people swap properties. The Renovators is far better than The Block. Hope Ten do it again but with a few changes.
The premiere really did a lot of damage to the brand though, but that’s Ten’s fault, not the shows.

  3. A Selling Houses/Extreme Makeover/Grand Designs genre strip at 7pm could work without the extravagant challenges etc more informational / actual renovating keeping the show 30 minutes a night and not filling the schedule with it as well.
I don’t think this is anything other than a new stripped program

  4. Sounds a bit like Auction Squad without the house being sold. If they get the format right and have decent advice in the realms of Selling Houses, Property Ladder, House Doctor, and so, it could work as a weekly offering on a Thursday or Friday night.
