Adelaide company Imagination has bought the rights to Humphrey B. Bear, who was sold after Banksia Productions declared bankruptcy.
Imagination chief executive Shane Yeend said he was exploring a new TV program, charity work or a re-invention in an animated series
“Anything is possible,” he said.
“Look what happened with Bananas In Pyjamas.
“They made it into an animated series and now it is on its way to becoming a billion-dollar brand. It is not an easy road. The kids’ market is a very tough market these days, but Humphrey is still recognised by young children. My daughter loves him.”
After sifting through 40 years worth of material, Yeend plans a reunion for Humphrey’s extended family.
“We have come across all these people who have had something to do with Humphrey and we thought it would be nice to have a reunion later this year to celebrate how he has affected so many people.”
Sounds like a great idea.

It is quite odd that there is no record of who initially complained about the bear wearing no pants. I really would like to know who initially raised the complaint about the no pants issue. What kind of peculiar person would even be thinking about such a thing in response to a children’s television show? I feel that who ever made this complaint is someone who is very odd indeed. I wouldn’t want my children around them, that’s for sure.
What about other banksia properties? Did they go as well or was it only Humphrey that was sold? I’d love to see new eps of the curiosity show.
Good to see him back 🙂
Oh people…stop….he is a bear…with his own full fur suit….*geesh*
How many of you had a ‘teddy bear’ with pants…. 🙄
What a funny old fellow is Humphrey.
Good ol’ Humphrey Bear.
Just can’t say no to a bear with no pants.
Hope they bring back Glynn Nicholas! One of my earliest memories of Humphrey is with him and a frog of sorts.
I think he needs a new outfit…. and some pants!
Fredd Bear on 0-10’s Magic Circle Club, way back in the day, was miles better than Humphrey. Unfortunately the guy who played Fredd is no longer with us, so he’s unlikely to ever be resurrected (Fredd, I mean!).
Humphrey was asked for a comment but I beleive he politely rufused.
Sound like they right company brought it. Hope to see Humphrey back on tv soon.
