Shane Bourne turned down Logies hosting

Shane Bourne declined a hosting gig again, citing lack of time to prepare.

Shane Bourne says he was asked to host the Logie Awards again this year, but declined.

Speaking on Triple M’s new Highway Patrol program yesterday, Bourne said: “I really enjoyed it last year I had a ball, to me it wasn’t television it was like doing a bit live variety show, it was great fun. We just wrapped the show Tricky Business this week, I just thought I don’t want to get into that zone… because you do have to prepare a bit!”

Even last week TV Tonight was hearing whispers that organisers were still keen to secure his services (and not Kyle and Jackie O!), but organisers insisted there would be no single host this year, relying on a series of presenters which it has previously done in the past.

  1. glennc, Shaun Micallef was actually still with the ABC when he hosted the Logies for Channel 9. It was back in the Micallef Programme / Welcher & Welcher days, before his awesome variety show Micallef Tonight on Nine.

  2. As everyone is programming aggressively against the Logies this year it will be interesting to see how it rates. Imagine waking up to the news that is came second or even third? The lack of host does not bode well.

  3. Shane Bourne was a great host last year. I can’t understand why some hosts fall flat, most of the material is written for them, maybe it’s in the delivery. I would like to see a return of the big musical production numbers from previous years, instead of solo artists.
