Prisoner fans watching the show’s re-run on Pay TV can catch the arrival of Joan Ferguson, aka “The Freak” next Tuesday, April 17.
The character of the nasty prison officer, played by Maggie Kirkpatrick, is easily one of the show’s most memorable characters.
The sadistic and corrupt lesbian prison officer with a penchant for leather gloves, appeared in episodes 287-692, including the final scene of the series.
Appearing recently as a guest on Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, Kirkpatrick told host Shaun Micallef she was sick of talking about the show and never wanted to hear the theme song again.
Foxtel has promised a Prisoner remake, following the success of the series encore.
Prisoner airs 6:30pm weeknights on 111HITS.

Phenomenal character, brilliantly played (and loathed).
Actors must realize that when they take on a role that there is a possibility that they will always be remembered for that one role Maggie k will always be known a the freak anne Tenney will always b known as molly jones
Well i hope she softens her stance on it all – as Foxtel is running a competition, and the main prize is a lunch with Maggie Kirkpatrick, along with dvd packs of the show. Won’t be much of a first prize if she doesn’t want to talk about the show!
