Auditions: Formal Affairs

What's going to make your formal the night of all nights! The shoes, the outfit or the hot date?

Matchbox Pictures is developing a project based around the world of school formals for a “major network.”

This has the working title of Formal Affairs and producers want to know ‘What’s going to make your formal the night of all nights!  Is it the shoes? Is it your outfit? Or is it the hot date…?’

To be eligible for this program you must have a school formal coming up (even if it’s next year).

Matchbox Pictures have produced both drama and observational with The Slap, The Straits,  Underground: The Julian Assange Story, My Place,  Sex: An Unnatural History, Leaky Boat and more.

Applications for the national TV show can be lodged here.

The Age reports auditions will also be held at Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park, Melbourne, on September 8th.

Update: They will also take place on the Gold Coast on 15th September and Sydney on 29th September.

  1. This concept would barely rate any interest during one of those 6:30 shows, let alone an entire series. Enough with this rubbish tv! No wonder viewers go looking elsewhere to watch quality shows.

  2. Nuff of the reality stuff already. Let’s have some quality drama please. The news that Prisoner is being reworked is wonderful & a possible remake of No.96 would be heaven if placed in the right hands. So many wonderful actors & actresses we do not get to enjoy anymore. Tina Bursill as top dog? Lorrae Desmond in the Dorrie Evans role? The possiblities are endless.

  3. Hmmm..wouldn’t this have a dreadfully restrictive audience in terms of interest factor? And isn’t it a type of bridal show in another guise? If this is for Ten, I would go grab a hankie to have a quiet sob. Anyone know? 7 or others I wouldn’t care about.
