Big Brother confirms “House 2”

Big Brother has confirmed a rumour that it will attempt to fool the housemates into believing there is a second house full of rival housemates.

Big Brother has confirmed a rumour that it will attempt to fool the housemates tomorrow night into believing there is a second house full of rival housemates.

On Sunday, as Sonia wraps up her final live cross to the House, our very competent crew will intentionally make a mistake. The HMs will be watching the screen, waving farewell to Sonia and expecting the plasma to fade to black as usual. Only this time, they’ll see something different. Something that will look like the biggest mistake ever. Except it’s not.

Sonia will say goodbye, then slightly turn and address the crowd. The HMs will wonder why she is still talking before suddenly, Sonia will do another live cross. Except she’s crossing to “the House.” And “the House” ain’t theirs.

With this the live feed to the house will be cut -just enough (it’s hoped) to convince the housemates there is a second house .

There is also speculation audience members will hold fake signs for other fake housemates, who inadvertently become visible.

It’s a dastardly plan, and if it comes off it should be a lot of fun.

  1. David and everyone if i could permit to say one thing…

We all know channel 9 does not listern to people. Its almost as if channel 9 are mid age wifes and husbands working for ch9. Where shows like big brother ends up looking dodgy or not well done.

Ask yourself this. Big brother 1 in 2001 (channel ten) vs Big brother in 2012 (channel nine) Can you compare both? was series 1 better or boring or pretty much just like the return of big brother in 2012 ? I know this year there is no cams and it making us watch the daily show more then ever no dought about that. But there are alot of parts we cant see… for example where on earth is the washing machine.. last night we so a climps of the outdoor washing machine and that was first time big brother show that on television. Considering big brother show has allready started voer a fortnight. Also there are are areas i dont fully regonise or where does that door go to? or is that just the hallway to the living room or so. You see the big brother is not showing us fans the house correctly. Its almost like as if everything seems fake and that they start filming by letting them now to do something intertainment for 5 hours. Seriously what if… what if big brother is fooling us ? And fooling the real house mates that there is a house 2 was bad done.. It obviously looked quite fake. I mean if i was a big brother housemate i would have notice it was more then likely fake. Its obviously felt like that. It wasn’t done correctly. Anyways thanks.

  2. Big Brother was quite entertaining tonight. I never really watched the original seasons when it was on Ten and it’s actually quite a fun show, a hell of a lot better than the other alternatives on at the same time (Home and Away and tired Modern Family reruns). The Yes/No task was quite entertaining last week and I love this ‘fake house’ idea.

Hats off to Nine, IMO they’ve done a good job with this show. The last time I actually watched BB seriously was in 2005/2006/whenever it was with the Logan twins. I was calling for the show to be axed a few weeks ago but now that I’ve actually sat down and watched it I’m happy to eat my words. I’m glad this show is airing right now.

I’m also glad Ryan was evicted, guy was a tool.

  3. i must admit i am getting sucked into watching this more than i thought i would, the yes/no task & talking fish etc made it more interesting, now the 2nd house idea to really screw with their heads will really shake things up, its just a shame the housemates themselves are so boring! When they showed the promo saying ‘you’ll be suprised in the house & whose not’, well i’ve been far from suprised seeing as they are all white anglo youngins, still its a relief there are no bogans in there like last time.

  4. Well, audience posters are saying in social media that it just didn’t go off because Layla was onto it immediately because she could hear Sonia and the audience laughing and she quipped about the UK series having done the same thing. So, would fans here disagree or do you think it largely fell flat? [Adding: via production mishandling]

  5. Bogues, most people probably don’t even know about a Big Brother UK, let alone know the twists from it. The only thing that they shouldn’t do is reuse ideas from previous australian seasons.

  6. It’s nice to finally see some original ideas from big brother Australia. Both the yes no task and the talking fish were copied from bb uk (they had a talking chest of drawers)

  7. it is a great idea and so much like what the brits were doing in the early seasons. when it was on c4. the psychological games what were played on the housemates were awesome to watch

  8. austvarchive, are you claiming that all of those who have been on BB in the past are actors? If so, there’s a flaw in your argument, because I personally know one of the former HMs and this person definitely was not (and is not) an actor.

  9. The only ones being fooled are the viewers. Some years ago BB was sending some of its network feeds over the satellite, whilst the vision was encrypted, the audio wasnt. One night i listened to this and could hear the housemates being counted in from the break, and briefed about what they were supposed to be talking about. It opened my eyes to the fact this is no different to any other television program. Now i see nine has no “live” feeds etc, and i strongly wonder if they only shoot a few hours a day, perhaps even do a weeks worth in a day like any other program then package it up later. Its no co-incidence most of the housemates have television or media experience etc, they are after all actors!! – With all the ratings and money that always was riding on this series, why would they ever risk having real people, real situations, it would be too risky, better to fool the audience with a reality program that is virtually all fictitous…why do it? – it makes money!!

  10. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. These are the best sort of games you can play on people in this environment, the ones that play on the psychology.Hope it makes good viewing.

  11. It really could go either way. To me, the housemates look fake, the house looks fake but maybe I feel this way because I know it’s fake. Also, the real housemates will only see a split second of the other house so it could work.

  12. Was very annoyed at the PG level of BB this year, but the mind games BB is playing on them is growing on me.

After you get used to the PG level you realise it’s just like going back to BB basics, that the first BB was all those years ago.

  13. Oh dear…we have recently been talking about marketing too. “It’s a dastardly plan” is I think a kindness. “[S]peculation” that audience members will….enter the house!?…kidnap Sonia?…..no..they may *drum roll*..hold up signs.

I accept I have lost that sort of innocent wonder that leads one to see this as true ‘devilment’ of the first order… but there were issues back in the 2008 series with BB hyping up events that turned out to be no more than someone pulling out three tissues from the box instead of one.

Let’s hope what happens ‘next’ is something worth the build up.
