NRL Footy Show also set to move timeslot

Nine has announced the NRL Footy Show will also move to 8:30pm Thursdays next year.

Nine has announced the NRL Footy Show will also move to 8:30pm Thursdays next year, after saying earlier this week there were no plans to move yet.

The Footy Show will celebrate 20 years of rugby league entertainment in 2013 by moving to a new LIVE Thursday night timeslot on Channel Nine.

Paul “Fatty” Vautin and Michael “Slats” Slater will return to host The Footy Show on Thursday, March 7 – a massive and historic night for league fans with almost four hours of live NRL coverage.

The night starts with the blockbuster season opener: the local derby between the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs, whose intense rivalry goes back to 1908.

The Footy Show will immediately follow live coverage of the Roosters-Rabbitohs clash on Channel Nine, the first of four new Thursday night games scheduled for the 2013 NRL competition.

Then, on Thursday, April 4, The Footy Show goes LIVE every week in its new timeslot of 8.30pm.

Paul “Fatty” Vautin will be celebrating his own amazing milestone in 2013 – notching up a record 20 years hosting The Footy Show.

“Fatty” and “Slats” will be joined next year by Beau Ryan, Darryl “The Big Marn” Brohman and all the other Footy Show favourites as the NRL powers into a new season.

The Footy Show enjoyed a strong growth year in 2012, dominating its 9.30pm timeslot and winning in Sydney and Brisbane, based on Total People, People 18-49 and People 16-39 as an average across the period.

The Footy Show increased year-on-year based on Total People (+12.5%), People 25-54 (+11.9%), People 18-49 (+14.2%) and People 16-39 (+11.3%). It also had an increase among young viewers (People 0-17), up 23.8 per cent year-on-year.

In 2012, women returned strongly to The Footy Show, with women in the 0-17 demographic up 34.4 per cent and up 13.0 per cent for 25-54. In total women, viewers increased by 9.8 per cent year-on-year, and women made up 42 per cent of The Footy Show audience for Sydney and Brisbane.

The Footy Show will be filmed live with a studio audience at the Nine Network studios in Willoughby, Sydney.

  1. It rates way more, The NRL Footy Show rates around 160,000 and the others rate around 40,000. So The Footy Show Wins! And that’s just plain Stupid! about what you said, about you’ll only watch The Footy Show if it was only on ch7 or ch10 Stupid! It’s about the Show not the Network. And by the way if you say so Ch9 is a Waayyy!!! better network!

  2. @ William
    What ratings??

Look at the NRL Footy Show ratings on this site from this year and previous years, and compare it to any other NRL Show there is!!! and you will see what show NRL fans love to watch most. And the Answer is The Footy Show by miles away!!!

  3. @ deedeedragons

Do you know what your saying? i know a lot of people who watch The Footy Show, and where all Rugby League fans!!! The Footy Show is the Best! NRL show ever and Always Will Be!!!!!
And if you don’t believe me, look at the Ratings! and all the Awards they have Won! and if you ask the majority of NRL fans, there all going to say The Footy Show is the Best! Because it is!!!

  4. with the NRL Footy Show now starting at 8.30, hopefully this means at the AFL version starts at a more respectul time in Sydney (10 – 10.30pm?), instead of 11.30pm where its been airing for a few years.

  5. Michael Slater does not belong on the Footy Show! Ch 9 should have atleast made a few changes to the panel also. Time to brighten up the place would be good too- new set/ more & new entertainment, they should bring back the no talent time thing too. Beau Ryan is great on the show.

  6. Wow … thats a bad call.

No doubt NRL footy show should have been killed a few years ago. If they serious want to reinvent the magic they should axe every person on it and start again and try create the next generation hit.

  7. Ths is a real shame as The Game Plan (TEN) was getting some pretty good numbers (given the state of TEN during the 2012 NRL season) and now going head to head with the barracuda of NRL panel shows it may result in it’s demise. Hopefully TEN think of something like moving days or timeslots as it offered actual NRL insight and commentary as opposed to the light-entertainment version offered by The Footy Show.
