Axed: Leverage

By David Knox on December 25, 2012 / Filed Under Pay TV 3

2012-12-24_2110US drama Leverage has been cancelled by cable network TNT.

The series starring Timothy Hutton ends after five seasons with the final episode to air in the US on Christmas Day.

Executive producer Dean Devlin told fans in an open letter, “As of the writing of this letter, we still do not know if there will be a season six of our show.

“Because of this uncertainty, [series creator] John Rogers and I decided to end this season with the episode we had planned to make to end the series, way back when we shot the pilot. So, the episode that will air on Christmas is, in fact, the series finale we had always envisioned.”

A statement from the network simply said, “TNT’s Leverage has thrilled audiences with its delightfully intricate plots, its ‘stand up for the little guy’ attitude and its terrific performances from stars Timothy Hutton, Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge.”

Thanks to FTA this is yet another show that has fallen through the cracks for me. I watched the early seasons but guess I’ll have to catch the rest on DVD.

I guess over the coming months we will morn the passing of some good shows that run their course and wonder how some of the less worthy ones keep hanging on.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Oh, I am sad, but glad it will have a proper ending. Great show.

Such a great show, and this season is terrific. It’ll be sad to see it go. Thanks SoHo/W for broadcasting all the seasons close to their US airing!
