Legendary entertainer Bert Newton has been released from hospital following his quadruple bypass heart surgery 10 days ago.
Newton, 74, will now go into rehabilitation for a period of time before returning home.
“The reaction has been amazing. It’s such a wonderful bonus [hearing from] not just from people that you know and people who have written to you regularly, but people you’ve not heard of before,” he said.
“It’s a wonderful feeling.”
He says the operation went well and there will be a three to six month recovery period.
“It wasn’t nearly as bad as some people would’ve forecast,” he said.
“My surgeons have treated it as a journey and I’ve been on a few interesting journeys in my life and it will continue to be a journey.”

We love you Bert! Get well soon!
@jules108 – Coffee and some medications do it. Never smoked one in my life but I’m like that.
Get well Bert. Did I hear your name mentioned in rumblings at the TEN AGM? Not even to host the Judge Judy Marathon? Come on. Don’t let a little old heart bypass stop you. Please????
Sincere best wishes to Bert for a full and speedy recovery. I hope he has many happy years to come playing with his Grandchildren.
Lost a fair bit of weight it seems. And looking much better for it. Get well soon Moonface 🙂
Get well soon Bert.
And he looks pretty good for 74.
Great news.
Good Luck Bert.
Hope you’re feeling much better soon.
@ jules108…just plain aging can also be the cause….I know.
Does Bert smoke? Those teeth are very yellow. Glad to see he’s recovered from surgery.
