A Current Affair: GEM update

ACA will move to GEM in WIN TV regional areas due to The Block.

2012-11-20_1306A  Current Affair is set to move to GEM in WIN TV regional areas from Monday.

It’s understood the move is due to The Block beginning at 7pm.

In most regional areas viewers see both the Nine-produced 6pm News and a locally produced bulletin from WIN TV, meaning something has to give somewhere.

  1. Looks like GEM regional WA get ‘Send In The Dogs’ as per Nine/NBN/Imparja areas because ACA airs at 6:30pm there anyway. But according to eBroadcast, ACA will also be screening on GEM Tas at 7pm even when WIN has it at 6:30 too.

Could be a mistake, or an opportunity for Tasmanian ACA fans to watch it twice… Eww. 🙁

  2. @pietro most of WIN country now is in only Digital broadcasting areas…keep in mind i said most…. and unless your STB is over 3 years old…there is a good chance your STB has a HD channel… so they should be able to get GEM… so i dont understand your point…and i think you will find all areas of the country has Digital TV…so if you dont have at HD TV or STB…spend 39.95 at your local electrical store and buy a HD STB. So i think its a good move by all FTA to utilise the mutlichannels..Prime 7 have been doing an excellent job of it for years

  3. @DOGES333 – Yes, unfortunately all of these new channels running old programs come at a cost. In some cases the cost is the loss of regional news, which is a pity. Shame that the original licence requirements were not maintained – specifying minimum “local” news and content.

  4. WIN had to do this. Last year the episode of ACA where Bryce Courtney announced he had months to live was not shown on WIN because they were showing one of Nine’s “7 o’Block” shows.

WIN were deeply embarrassed and it is good to see there will not be a repetition this year.

  5. It is about time this move has happened! All of Nine’s reality programming in the 7pm timeslot last year was bumped to 7:30pm unless it was live, so it meant that everything was delayed (with one sitcom on Tuesday nights being removed all together from the schedule). PRIME7 seemed to have no trouble dropping Today Tonight for local news so that Home & Away started at 7pm, but WIN only just got the idea.
