On Monday night A Current Affair will present a “World Exclusive” interview with Ellen DeGeneres ahead of her Australian visit.
Tracy Grimshaw flew to Los Angeles on a quick turnaround flight for this interview.
Yesterday on Twitter she said, “Tonight on @ACurrentAffair9 we will give you a look at Project X…aka why I was in LA this week. #quicktrip #wortheverysecond”
Grimshaw, a Walkley Award-winning journalist, cites the interview, which took place on the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as one of her career highlights.
“I thought I’d done pretty much everything in 32 years in television,” Grimshaw said.
“But walking out to interview Ellen, in front of her own audience of 300 people, on her set, was quite an experience.
“I was concerned that with all that post-show energy she would be playing more to them than me, but she couldn’t have been more engaged.
“We discussed her life, her struggles, bullying, Joan Rivers, coming out, fighting back from being broke and unemployable, where Portia wants to take her in Australia and, briefly, her knees!
“Her staff said afterwards it was a side to her she never shows publicly and she told them that she really enjoyed the chat. I hope our viewers do too.”

Watched the interview tonight and I really enjoyed it. I agree with others here that Tracy is wasted on ACA. She’s a much better talent than just sitting in front of a camera and reading an autocue. Would love to see her have her own live chat show. She’d be perfect at it.
I do not watch ACA …only rarely Ellen…but I will watch this…and yes,,,,I also would watch Tracy if she had her own chat style show…..

World Exclusive! See Ellen say the same words she’s said before many times, but in a different arrangement!

@dan – it would be ironic if Nine gives Tracy a midday talk show and it takes Ellen’s time slot.
Tracy deserves so much better than ACA perhaps her own chat show she is very talented and is wasted on ACA

What makes this “World Exclusive” ?
It’s not as though Ellen has never been interviewed before.She pops up on shows like Letterman every so often.
The short clips that I’ve heard, Ellen has talked about before. With Oprah and sometimes on her show.
Damn I hate ACA, Tracy can do much better but this one should be good. Much have been a treat for the studio audiance to see.
Don’t watch ACA ot TT much these days but this interview will be a must see.
