20120313-IMG_4727SBS has announced a series of A-League finals specials to screen Monday nights on SBS 2 from next week.

These will air at 6:30pm, previously scheduled as Ninja Warrior repeats (these will now air Thursday – Friday).

The World Game: A-League Finals specials will be repeated at 11:00pm Mondays on SBS ONE following The World Game.

The World Game: A-League Finals Special will cover all the latest news, results and action from the A-League finals with highlights, analysis, previews of the weekend’s finals and special guests. Host David Zdrilic will be joined by Craig Foster and A-League coaches and players each week to discuss all the excitement and drama of the A-League finals series.

“The A League will under pin our strategic commitment to football come this October, and these changes are just the first steps in that journey,” said Ken Shipp, Head of Sport SBS. “This is a great opportunity to refresh our brand and continue to grow our reputation as Australia’s leading football destination as we prepare to launch an exciting new football programming schedule later this year.”

SBS will also air The World Game: Global Edition at 11:30pm on SBS ONE. Hosted by Les Murray and David Basheer, it will feature the latest global football news and results from the UEFA Champions League and English Premier League as the seasons head towards a dramatic climax.

6:30pm Mondays on SBS 2 and online from 1 April to 22 April.

It was an agreement that was signed by FOX Sports and SBS late last year. That every Socceroos game will be on a hour delay, 1 HAL game on Friday will be Live, every finals of HAL will be on a hour delay

Slightly off-topic – it is appalling that the qualifier tonight is not live on FTA.

it’s good to see The World Game have these A-League Finals Specials on. Even more happy that it’s on at an earlier time than usual.

I like how The World Game has been airing on SBS2 live for around a year now, with a repeated version on sbs1 later on in the night. Using both primary and digital channels to their advantage (however, sadly they never seem to rate that well).

I’m not a soccer fan but this seems just what the local game needs. Good on ya SBS.
