Airdate: Royal Babies

Sometimes a synopsis for a TV show gets a little carried away, but this one just about takes the cake.

But this doco for Royal Babies airing on Seven this week just about takes the cake.

Check out the first line.

With Prince William and Kate’s royal baby tipped to be the most historically significant of all time, we look at what the future could hold for this mini-monarch. Royal experts remind us just how much things have changed: from the early 20th century when Royalty hid their baby bumps to the Diana era, when media had front row seats to private moments. Will William and Kate maintain the normality they desire or will they struggle in the face of intense media scrutiny?

I’m not sure if they mean it’s the most historically significant royal baby of all time or the most historically significant event of all time.

Either way I’m not buying it.

9:45pm Thursday, May 30 on Seven.

  1. Two words – “hyper” “bole”.

“Will William and Kate maintain the normality they desire or will they struggle in the face of intense media scrutiny?”

The apparent complete lack of self-awareness in that statement is staggering.

  2. I am much more prepared to believe this hype than the rest of the ‘events’ the networks try to convince us are ‘historical moments’.
