Tuesday May 14

6:00pm John Barron will host a special budget preview edition of The Drum on ABC NEWS 24. John will be joined by expert commentators and guests as they look at the challenges facing the Federal Government in framing the budget and the areas likely to be affected.

7.00pm ABC News rounds up the day’s events in the lead up to the Federal Budget on ABC1 and ABC NEWS 24.

7.30pm Treasurer Wayne Swan’s Budget 2013 speech, live from Canberra Parliament House, on ABC1 and ABC NEWS 24.

8.00pm 7:30 special budget edition with Leigh Sales and analysis from Political Editor Chris Uhlmann in Canberra, including live interviews with Treasurer Wayne Swan and Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey. Guests also include senior economist Chris Richardson, Chief Executive Jennifer Westacott from the Business Council of Australia and Dr Cassandra Goldie, CEO of the Australian Council of Social Service, on ABC1 and ABC News 24.

8.30pm ABC News 24 continues its coverage co-hosted by Jane Hutcheon in Sydney and ABC News 24’s Political Editor Lyndal Curtis, live from Parliament House in Canberra.

10.00pm The Drum returns with a live budget special on ABC News 24 hosted by John Barron.

10.30pm Lateline’s budget special with Emma Alberici live in Canberra, with guests including Finance Minister, Senator Penny Wong and Shadow Finance Minister, Andrew Robb, followed by a budget edition of The Business with Ticky Fullerton on ABC1 and ABC News 24.

Thursday, May 16

7.30pm Live from Parliament House in Canberra, the ‘Right of Reply’ to the 2013 Federal Budget by Opposition Leader Tony Abbott on ABC1 and ABC NEWS 24.

8.00pm 7:30 with Leigh Sales and observations from Political Editor Chris Uhlmann in Canberra on ABC1.

  1. What annoys me is that there is an entire channel for the news and the ABC is still airing a portion on ABC1 taking time away from regular programming. I am really annoyed that the Checkout is off for a week for the opposition reply to the budget. That should be put exclusively on ABC News24 and leave The Checkout still on.
