CBeebies on the big screen

CBeebies has announced school holiday cinema screenings in selected Hoyts cinemas.

SarahDuck_3BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand has announced Hoyts cinema screenings of some of its content with one hour presentations of CBeebies.

These will sell as $7 tickets in 36 selected Hoyts Jnr cinemas across the country from September 7 – October 6, every Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from 10am and coincide nationally with term three school holidays.

The screenings feature a stellar line-up of the channel’s most successful shows that will appeal to both boys and girls aged 2-6 who love animals and adventure. The hugely-popular brother and sister duo, Charlie and Lola, take a trip to the zoo before Lola and friend Soren Lorenson embark on their own trip to Lolaland, a make-believe place with their own make-believe Lola language. In Sarah & Duck, the charming 2D animated series, Duck wants to practice being a penguin so Sarah decides it’s time to take her flappy, quacky best friend for a visit to the zoo. Andy’s Wild Adventures, presented by BAFTA-nominated Andy Day, takes kids on an adventure through the Australian outback. Their mission is to get up close and take photos of some of the weird and wonderful animals that live in Australia.

Adding to the entertainment are CBeebies presenters Tara, Robbie and Duncan with active games to get kids joining in the fun.

The screenings are designed as a family event with a flat price of $7 per person. CBeebies colouring in activity sheets will be offered at each Hoyts cinema screening and Play Days will be available at a few lucky locations with a special visit from Tara, Robbie or Duncan (check Hoyts website).

Melissa Madden, Director of Brands and Marketing, BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand says: “Charlie and Lola is phenomenally popular with kids – as seen with the recent success of Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play at the Sydney Opera House in 2012 – and our newest global CBeebies shows Sarah and Duck and Andy’s Wild Adventures are fast becoming family favourites. We are delighted to be working with Hoyts and the Hoyts Jnr program, the only dedicated cinema platform for families with young kids, to give families across Australia the opportunity to see their much-loved friends on the big screen and to introduce CBeebies to a whole new audience.

  1. this is the dumbest idea ever. I remember taking my youngest brother to see Elmo in grouchland. all the mothers did was talk and all the kids did was climb over the seats and play.

none of them were watching the movie and my brother and I just looked at each other and couldn’t believe it. they weren’t even asked to leave.
