Congratulations to Seven’s Telethon in Western Australia for raising $20,701,272 surpassing last year’s $16.8m record.
Since 1968 Telethon has raised over $150 million for charity.
Seven stars in attendance included Melissa Doyle, George Houvardos, Sam Armytage, Samantha Jade, Tina Arena, Johnny Ruffo, Lynne McGranger and Fat Cat.
Included in the tally was a $100,000 donation from Channel 9 Perth.
STW9 Managing Director David Mott said, “I have a healthy respect for Kerry Stokes and Channel 7 and we at Channel 9 Perth are delighted to make this donation to Telethon to support the all important medical research that benefits the Western Australian community.
“Every other day we will fight the good fight in the competitive TV business we are in, however today is not one of those days.”

This is just Nine Perth buying $100,000 worth of much needed publicity. However, most viewers over there won’t know what a ‘Channel Nine’ even is!
good on nine giving money !
Mott has been given millions to splash about for PR to raise Nine’s profile in Perth and demonstrate the Gordon’s low cost, don’t give a damn about the local approach is over.
And of course taxpayers will be picking up some of the tab.
Nine Perth needs to start running weekend charity sausage sizzles at footy matches to grab some of that community engagement.
Amazing! It was a great weekend, so much support for Telethon7. There are some clips on their official youtube channel Telethon1968.
Good move from 9. This event is a centerpiece for 7 perth contributing to their dominance. Now for the cost of $100k it’s been made all about 9.
Good on them both to be able to put differences aside for a good cause.
