Katie Couric’s daytime talk show Katie will wrap after ABC has pulled the plug after two seasons.
“While production will continue on Katie through June 2014, we’ve mutually agreed that there will not be a third season of the show,” representatives for Couric and the show’s distributor, ABC Domestic Television, said in a joint statement.
“We’re very proud of everyone’s contributions to making Katie the #1 new syndicated talk show of 2012-2013, and we look forward to the rest of the season.”
The NY Daily News reports of behind the scenes problems including Couric’s executive producer Jeff Zucker leaving to run CNN; a tug-of-war between Couric’s desire for a news-driven production vs the network wanting lighter fare; and the costs -initially $50m to produce, then $35m but still far in front of the average $20m talk show.
Couric is now expected to draw an annual salary of as much as $6 million a year in her new role as Global Anchor for Yahoo.
The show has aired in Australia on Arena.

Maybe now they will bring back The View and dump that dreadful show Bethany.
Surely the execs new as a person she is as exciting as drying paint?
This is a real pity.I loved her show and her ability to have fun and be so serious with great pathos when needed
