The full Doctor Who costume for Peter Capaldi has now been revealed with a simple, “back to basics” look.
Peter Capaldi, who replaces Matt Smith, will have a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, white shirt and black Dr Marten shoes, created by Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden.
“He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% Rebel Time Lord,” said Capaldi.
Filming on the latest series began earlier this month and will continue until August with director Ben Wheatley coming on board.
“New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you,” said Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.
The series is expected to air later this year.

Reckon he’d pass as a Qantas flight attendant with this garb. “We will shortly be commencing our inflight service where we’ll be serving you chicken pasta with some timey-wimey stuff”.
Looks good to me. I hope there’ll be some wonderful stories. I also loved Jon Pertwee. But it does make me wonder if there will be a coat for winter (highly probable ) . Because it does get cold over there.
Clothes maketh the man, in theory, but
I’m sure that Peter Capaldi’s acting ability
will outweigh any wardrobe deficiencies!
Looks exciting!
Looks promising 🙂
Am I the only one who was hoping Capaldi would play this with Scots accent and wearing a kilt?
It’s Jon Pertwee without the frills…all he needs is a cape!
Looks like a magician.
The Doctor looks older, but is essentially younger, just like with William Hartnell. Only this time around, he’s gonna have a kick-arse rebel attitude. So keen!
His attitude will definitely outweigh his outfit.
Boring.
