Filming got underway in Cardiff this week on the next season of Doctor Who with Peter Capaldi -but that’s not his new costume.
The photo release by the BBC shows Capaldi still wearing the clothes worn by Matt Smith, no doubt following his “re-generation.”
“New job, first day, slightly nervous. Just like the Doctor, I’m emerging from the TARDIS into a whole other world,” Capaldi said of filming.
Steven Moffat, Lead Writer and Executive Producer, added: “First the eyebrows! Then, at Christmas, the face! Coming soon, the whole Doctor. In the Cardiff studios, the Capaldi era begins.”
Accompanying The Doctor will be companion Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman.
The first episode of series eight has been written by Steven Moffat, with the second episode penned by Phil Ford. These are the first full episodes that Capaldi will shoot and they are directed by Ben Wheatley.
Filming is taking place in Cardiff until August 2014.

This schedule covers the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who’s first transmission in a foreign country, New Zealand.
Another 8 month wait for new eps, hate we have wait so long but it’s better than none at all.
You are right, David, Stephen Moffat has stated a few times that it will be a straight run from late August/early September of 13 episodes but was unclear if that included the xmas special or if there was 1 episode less in the run.
Reports are the new series will screen towards the end of August and run until late November in the UK.
David, Any idea of a Rough Air date for this new season?
Sounding like Spring.
