Andrew & Emelia eliminated from MKR

ACT's Andrew & Emelia miss the cut by 2 points, despite Chloe & Kelly not making their own dessert pastry.

2014-02-05_0038Canberrans Andrew Hinge & Emelia Vimalasiri were the first couple eliminated from My Kitchen Rules last night, after WA friends Chloe and Kelly outscored them by just 2 points.

It was Manu Feildel’s scoring of a Mille-feuille with passion fruit custard that saved the outspoken WA girls, despite not making their own puff pastry, and sent the ACT couple packing.

Chloe and Kelly scored 49 out of 110 for their Gatsby themed restaurant “Nouveau”, leaving Andrew and Emelia with a score of 47 for their “Berralicious” instant restaurant.

“We really just wanted that one more chance to prove we can really cook. But I guess that’s the competition,” said Andrew.

Emelia added: “This is definitely not the end for us. We’re definitely going to keep cooking. We feel so privileged to have been on this amazing journey.”

Group 2 starts their round of instant restaurants tonight with Chinese-Australian newlyweds Uel and Shannelle from New South Wales.

  1. @aesthetic.

Completely perplexed by your comment. How can a spice used be compared to store bought puff pastry which was the main ingredient of the dish.

Not impressed by last nights decision to keep the girls after the puff pastry incident. If it wasn’t for the new round starting tonight I would be giving MKR the flick sooner then planned.

  2. It was Andrew and Emelia who used the kerns curry powder. The way they both shouted when they talked reminded me of children’s tv entertainers. Andrew clearly just wanted to be on TV. But Chloe and Kelly got everything they deserved. It’s a pity there wasn’t a double elimination last night so both of them could go.

  3. I thought the other couples were very harsh last night (especially the twins) and I don’t think they scored Chloe and Kelly fairly. Yes they were very critical of the other contestants but at least they scored them fairly.

  4. I think that the girls should have scored less for not making their own bread and puff pastry and it should have been them that was eliminated. At least the couple from the ACT didn’t cheat by not making three ingredients themselves.
