Bruce Forsyth steps down as Strictly Come Dancing host

Veteran UK presenter Bruce Forsyth will be stepping down, but not retiring, as host of Strictly Come Dancing.

2014-04-06_0123Veteran UK presenter Bruce Forsyth will be stepping down as the presenter of the Strictly Come Dancing, the British original of Dancing with the Stars.

“After 10 wonderful years and 11 series, I believe it is now the right time to step down from the rigours of presenting the Strictly live shows.

“I am very proud of what the show has achieved and confident it will entertain the nation for many years to come,” he said.

”I am also delighted that by presenting the Christmas and Children in Need shows I will continue to have a strong association with Strictly. In addition, I am looking forward to the specials planned with the BBC as well as some live theatre shows, so before anyone asks…. I am not retiring quite yet!”

A replacement presenter is yet to be named.

  1. Hopefully the BBC use common sense and just let Tess and Claudia present as they’ve done the results shows for 3 years and increasing number of live shows too – Brucie only did 8-9 shows out of 24 last year anyway.

Graham Norton seems to be the favourite if they bring someone in but I don’t really think he’d work with Tess, but would probably work very well with Claudia.

  2. I’ve waited 10 years for this series to be shown in Australia. We get 1 series and then he quits. At least the show will go on and I hope UKTV pick up the next series. I think at 86 it is the right decision, otherwise he may have got much worse. He will be a hard act to follow. He told all his own jokes in between each act. I wonder if they will let Tess & Claudia host it together.

  3. The most recent series of this was on foxtel. He did look a bit out of his depth at times, struggling to read his auto cue and very much being carried by his co-host, the fabulous Tess Daly!
