MKR …and then there were four.

Tassie friends Thalia and Bianca fall short as four teams head into the MKR finals.

photo-4Four teams have been selected for the My Kitchen Rules finals next week: Victorian twins Helena and Vikki, South Australian mums Bree and Jessica, Western Australian best friends Chloe and Kelly and Queensland surfer dads Paul and Blair.

Last night Tasmanian best friends Thalia and Bianca lost out to Helena and Vikki and were eliminated with a score of 58 out of 110.

“We came with a love of food, but we are leaving with a true passion and we know that this is what we want to do with the rest of our lives,” said Bianca.

“I got to cook alongside my best friend. I’m so glad we got to do this together,” Thalia added.

Three nights of finals begin on Sunday night with Paul and Blair facing off against Chloe and Kelly in the first semi-final.

Monday night’s second semi-final pits mums Bree and Jessica against twins Helena and Vikki to determine the second grand final team.

The winning team will score $250,000 and presumably deliver bumper ratings to Seven.

  1. Au contraire Catherine … Masterchef is so superior in all regards – I’ll definitely be watching it. I just hope they keep the contestants’ personal and superfluous comments to a minimum, otherwise I’ll quickly lose interest !

  2. Maybe they drag it out because they know people will still watch it and they are right, the numbers are huge and maybe they think people will get sick of cooking shows so they wont watch masterchef.

  3. agree with the comments about it being more predictable & i also haven’t taken to any teams, but its still somehow rating its socks off. So i guess they won’t be changing anything for next years season if they’re on a winning formula, i won’t be watching though unless they do something different to make it more interesting. Its also going too long for me, i can’t remember if the episodes were also 1hr+20 mins last yr? If they were it seemed to go quicker.

  4. I have been a fan of MKR from the very first season, but this year I am finding that I can take it or leave it. I always knew situations were manipulated and heavily edited, but I can see through it more this year. I haven’t taken to any of the teams this year, which could explain my lack of interest.

  5. Is there a reality show anywhere in the world that lasts as long as MKR. So glad I don’t watch it. The bitchiness in the ads in enough.
To make matters worse Seven puts a song about friendship in the ads. Makes me laugh

  6. In new idea it says a team that goes loses the semi final battle will shock you. Yes I know its a magazine but I hope it isnt Paula and Blair. I think it would be great if they won. They have been consistent winners throughout the competition.

Yeah it does look like its set up for a wa v vic final. The WA girls have been shocking int instant restaurants but somehow they manage to cook good food in the challenges whereas Helena and Viki are the other way around.

  7. My prediction, boys against the twins for the grand final. If chloe and Kelly make it through I will not watch the final, nasty people do not make good tv.

  8. I have to admit that I’m getting a bit sick of it always coming down to a single point. The suspense and drama of such close finishes wore off a long time ago.

  9. Anyone else been thinking it’s been building to a Chloe & Kelly vs. Helena & Vikki grand final? These match ups put another peg into the “scripted drama posing as a reality TV show” argument… and yet I still watch it -_-

  10. This year has been a long drawn out competition to say the least and I missed last years part when the contestants go into a real working restaurant kitchen (Colin’s). My pick for a winner is either the boys or the twins. The mum’s can’t handle the pressure and well, the other two nasties, yeah.
