Top of the Lake sweeps miniseries awards at Monte Carlo TV Festival
Foxtel's Top of the Lake wins all 3 category awards at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

Jane Campion’s miniseries Top of the Lake has swept the Miniseries category at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, winning all three awards in its category.
In addition to Best Miniseries trophy, the drama won both the Miniseries acting gongs for Elisabeth Moss and Peter Mullan.
It follows from Emmy, Golden Globe, AACTA, ASTRA and Logie wins for the acclaimed series and even a recent Equity Ensemble nod.
The New Zealand-filmed series was produced by Australia’s UKTV channel, BBC and Sundance.
Other Australians nominated at the Golden Nymphs included The Moodys‘ Sacha Horler and Patrick Brammall, Wentworth‘s Robbie Magasiva and Danielle Cormack but all missed out.
TEN-screened NCIS, Modern Family and The Bold and The Beautiful all won Audience awards.

I know I am a hard marker but I thought TOTL was ok. Went on and on and there were many moments of disbelief – especially regarding police procedure.
nice cinematography – reminiscent of Vincent Ward’s “The Navigators” – but gaping plotlines and tortured dialogue left me bemused.
As for Elisabeth Moss’ accent – the less said the better. Weird weird weird. A kiwi who moved to Sydney when she was 15 and 15 years later a sa 30 year old finds herslef back in her hometown. I would have thought she would have sounded like an Australian.
“The Bridge” – now there’s great telly. Like “True Detective.”
Well acted, beautifully shot. slow storyline. Could have been condensed to 90 minute movie easily.
I mean Kim Bodnia is an actor and Ayelet Zurer is an actress. It’s interesting that Bodnia won this award days after it was announced that he had quit the series.

Look forward to seeing TOTL – have heard so many good things about it.
Good to see Top of the Lake and The Bridge do well. But the drama actor and actress are the wrong way here and in the SMH.
