2014-08-11_1024ABC2’s Good Game this week reveals Australia’s Top Game of all time, as voted viewers of the show.

I vote Halo -although I do have a retro soft spot for Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Hosts Bajo, Hex and Goose will be joined by industry luminaries, respected commentators and many familiar faces as we discover Australia’s favourite game.

8:30pm Tuesday, 12 August ABC2.

  1. I reckon The Last of Us will be number 1 or at the very least in the Top 5. It only came out last year but it’s a brilliant game. Beautiful graphics and a great story.

  2. Something I’ve been meaning to ask is how does Good Game do? It’s never on the top 20, although very little besides the children’s show are.

Best guess for no.1 would be either an Elder Scrolls or a Grand Theft Auto.

  3. I voted, and most of my shortlist were games i loved when i was a kid. Sonic the hedgehog, Alex the Kidd, original Mario Bros.

My pick for the win is something nostalgic, but a game heaps of people played like Mario Kart, or Mario 64.

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something that kids are playing now, because GG gets a whole lot of Kid fans who would be all over Voting. so perhaps Minecraft will be up there?

  4. I’ve watched every episode in the last seven years – it’s a humble, funny, passionately produced gem of a show. The recent Hex and Bajo specials were fab extras (hoping for a Goose one, too!).

David – never realised you were a closet gamer! My bet for #1 is something with mass appeal that crossed over genres, so maybe Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Portal 2 or Halo. Though World Of Warcraft may coz of the ruthless consumption of people’s lives (not mine!). Or would the true originals like Pac-Man or Space Invaders get a look in? Gonna be a terrific episode.

  5. Might have to try and remember to watch this, I think the results will vary depending on who has voted, with myself being part of the Gameboy and PS1 Generation I would think games like Crash Bandicoot and Pokemon would be up top, but with all these Call of Duty kids these days thinking the classics are crap and these modern games are the cool thing it could be anything. I would imagine that GTA games and Gran Turismo’s would be near the top, they are always good sellers, GTA San Andreas is highest selling PS2 game so it should be near the top ten.

  6. Halo is one of my faves too altho’ I really enjoyed Counterstrike. It’ll depend on the age of the voters but it’s pretty hard to go past an old-school mega-hit like Doom. I’m also a sucker for a really good racing sim, especially if I get to drive around the streets of real-world cities at 200 kph.
