PUP bites back against “mongrels” on Q&A

Video: Clive Palmer's volatile comments about China on Q&A ignite headlines.

2014-08-19_0059Inviting Clive Palmer onto a TV panel will invariably result in lively television and subsequent headlines.

Hopefully it won’t also lead to complaints against the broadcaster, after Palmer’s volatile comments about Chinese “mongrels.”

The moment came after Tony Jones tried to quiz the Palmer United Party leader on whether he could be a target of an ICAC inquiry, and that he allegedly funnelled funds from Port Palmer Operations to his election campaign.

He denied the claims and turned his attention to his feud with Chinese partners, insisting he is owed $500m by the Chinese government.

“I’m saying that because they’re communist, because they shoot their own people, they haven’t got a justice system and they want to take over this country,” he said.

“We’re not going to let them do it.”

  1. Much of what Palmer said is undeniably correct-China is a country ruled by an autocratic party that uses force to help it remain in power, unafraid of jailing and executing any one who opposes them in any way and intent on forcing their way onto the region-of course they were precisely the same a few years back when he was currying favour with them-an absolute bloody hypocrite!

  2. He’s saying what many prople are thinking. A bit unusual for a politician. Been to any home auctions lately? What’s the constant complaint at suburban Sydney auctions? Foreign interests buying up everything they can, at any price. For someone coming from nothing (unlike another mining magnate who inherited fron daddy) to build the empire he has, he’s no fool. He’s done alright representing his own interests overseas.

  3. @DanR & davodavo6666 we previously allowed Kevin Rudd & Julia Gillard to represent us overseas….so what is your point

Clive Palmer…..its not gonna be dull with him around….funny as….

  4. I will say that as long as Australia continues the way it is going and stops manufacturing, supporting farmers and the government continues to let this country go to ruins in every possible way, then I’m sorry but Australia will be owned by other countries (pretty much is currently happening anyway but still). I think it was fair game by Palmer.

  5. Can you actually picture this guy representing Australia in an official capacity overseas, why those morons in Fairfax elected him still makes me shake my head.
