MAX marks Molly's 50 year milestone with an authorised biography, and an entire weekend dedicated to the man in the hat.

2014-11-17_0011If ABC’s Countdown special wasn’t enough, MAX marks Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum’s fifty year milestone in the music industry with the premiere special, The Molly Meldrum Story followed by an entire weekend dedicated to the man in the hat.

Celebrating Molly as a successful critic, journalist, presenter and record producer, MAX pays tribute to this iconic Australian, chronologically through his illustrious career, from the ground-breaking music show Countdown to Hey Hey It’s Saturday, it has been an extraordinary, eccentric and action packed ride for Molly and it’s not over yet.

This December MAX kicks off the tribute to Molly’s 50 years in the music industry on Saturday December 6 with a non-stop weekend of Mollyrama across both days through to midnight Sunday December 7.

The Molly Meldrum Story– Thursday November 27 at 8.30pm and Sunday December 7 at 10am
This is the first authorised biography, as told by Molly himself and all those on the inside of his career, uncovering the exclusive, untold story of one of Australia’s greatest music legends. The documentary unearths Molly’s finest musical moments, from the legendary interviews, to the moments that changed Molly and his viewing audience. The story of Molly Meldrum is told through exclusive interviews with some of the people who have impacted Molly’s life and career from Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes and Daryl Somers.

Top Ten Molly– Saturday December 6 at 8.30am
MAX takes a look at ten of Molly’s most influential songs in music as a producer and label owner. From Russell Morris to Peter Andre you will be amazed at the impact Molly has had on making and breaking artists and their songs over the past 50 years.

Molly’s All Star Top 50 Countdown- Saturday December 6 at 10am
When you add up all of the artists Molly “broke,” produced, and introduced us to, you end with a list as long as your arm. In this special All Star Top 50 Countdown, the best of the best celebrate Molly in both song, and recorded tributes from some of the biggest names in the industry including Michael Gudinski, Jimmy Barnes, Slash, Delta Goodrem, Missy Higgins, Tina Arena and more.
