UK crime series Luther, which ran for four seasons on the BBC, is making a comeback in the form of two specials.
Idris Elba will reprise his role as DCI John Luther.
Writer Neil Cross said, “Ever since we said goodbye to John Luther on Southwark Bridge, there’s hardly been a minute when I didn’t wonder what happened next. So I decided to find out. We’re putting the band back together; Luther is coming back where he belongs. Back to the BBC. Back to London. And back to work.”
Luther will film in and around London in March for transmission later next year in the UK.
Earlier this week FOX announced it is teaming with Cross and Elba to develop a U.S. version of the series but Elba is not currently attached to star should it proceed to series.
Cross is also developing “darkly eccentric” drama Bay of Plenty set in New Zealand.

Love the series, love his nutcase girlfriend
Absolutely loved Luther. Great opening title and song by Massive Attack set the scene for some gritty, almost torture porn storylines. I guess Foxtel will get it before ABC which is a shame.
I only watched Luther this year and the 3 series were excellent!
Will Fox never learn?
