Ross Coulthart exits Sunday Night

Veteran investigative reporter quits Seven public affairs show, after six years of stories.

2014-11-21_1030Veteran investigative reporter has quit Sunday Night, according to a report in News Corp.

He joined the show in 2008 after 14 years on Nine’s Sunday and another four years at Four Corners.

The report speculates he left last Friday and links the departure to the office dust-up between Executive Producer Mark Llewellyn and producer Paul Waterhouse, in which Coulthart is understood to have intervened.

Llewellyn has not returned to the current affairs show since, advising staff he would be off work for the remainder of the year.

Andy Byrne is currently overseeing production of Sunday Night.

Gold Walkley winner Coulthart has fronted many of Sunday Night’s major stories including those on Britt Lapthorne, Oscar Pistorius, Malaysian Airlines, Daniel Morcombe, Victoria Cross winners, Family Court Murders, Trasylol, HMAS Perth, America’s Cup, Simon Gittany, plus interviews with Robert Redford, Dan Brown, Brendan O’Carroll, Dawn French, Cliff Richard, Nigella Lawson, Michael Chamberlain, John Cleese, Danny de Vito, Barry Humphries and more.

  1. He was very passionate about producing good journalism for it from the start. Unfortunately its not very reliabile. He might be of value to somewhere like the ABC or an International broadcaster…

  2. This is disappointing. Ross was the best part of the show in my opinion. I always looked forward to his investigative reports which were few and far between this year. Just a little observation but they have far too many reporters on the SN books at the moment. Ross has hardly been seen this year.
