Michelle Gomez returning to Doctor Who

“Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind," says Michelle Gomez.

2015-02-20_0128Michelle Gomez is returning to Doctor Who as the dastardly ‘Missy’ (aka Master).

That’s despite her apparently dying in Season 8.

Gomez arrives in Cardiff this week, joining Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) and Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) for the opening episode of the series.

“Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I’m delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I’m positively dying to see The Doctor again!” she said.

Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, says: “Everybody hide – Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she’s straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they’d expect.”

The BBC also announced the second two-part episode to be filmed, The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar, is written by Steven Moffat, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Hettie Macdonald .

Jemma Redgrave (The Day of the Doctor, Dark Water and Death in Heaven) also returns to the guest cast for series 9, alongside Kelly Hunter.

Clare Higgins and Jaye Griffiths also join the guest cast while pther guest stars confirmed for the new series include Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Aaron Neil, India Ria Amarteifio, Joey Price, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, Demi Papaminas.

It returns to screens later this year.

  1. Yay! Love the new Master … Mistress … Missy … oh, whatever… he is so much more evil as a woman!
    The Master will never be really killed off so we could have Missy around for years! 🙂
    This was also a way to try and shut people up about all that silly “will the Doctor regenerate into a woman” business! 🙁
