A lucky Australian actor is about to have the shot of a lifetime with Days of our Lives on the hunt for an Aussie to join the cast.

Producers have issued an open call for an Australian male to play ‘ruggedly handsome’ doctor Finn in a 13 week role in the ionic US soap opera.

Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng tells TV Tonight, “We’ve been wanting to do something with Australia because we’ve got so many fans down there. So when we became part of the Arena TV family it was like a slam dunk.

“It’s been a while since we’ve had an Aussie on the show so we thought this was a great opportunity to search for your talent.”

Aussies such as Brent Foster and Justin Melvey have enjoyed success on Days and now the show is seeking an actor to play Finn, who has arrived in Salem to do his residency working under the supervision of Doctor Jonas (Shawn Christian).

“It’s a legitimate role, it’s not a beauty search. So we’re looking for an actor who can fulfil this role. It’s an integral role to the storyline,” Meng insists.

“They will be involved in a storyline with one of the main characters that starts a little bit before the 50th Anniversary but continues through and beyond.”

Applications are open until March 22nd, with shortlisted applicants to film a scene and the chosen winner flown to LA.

But Meng warns it will be a demanding role.

“Daytime is the most strenuous production that there is. There’s no room for those who don’t have the experience. We tape 7-8 shows a week so it’s an incredible experience. If you can do this you can launch into other arenas like primetime or movies.

“So we need someone who can adapt to the environment and deliver quickly.”

Meanwhile plans are well-developed for the 50th Anniversary, to air in the US on Monday November 9th

“Every single fan will be extremely pleased. We have some great surprises and we’re honouring the fans from the past and the present. It’s about family both younger, and iconic figures,” he enthuses.

“But buckle up because we’re going to be leading up to that.”

  1. I wonder if this idea was inspired by an Aussie (Ashleigh Brewer) joining The Bold and the Beautiful. I haven’t watched Days in a while. The storylines have gotten boring and disgusting (Eve/JJ affair yuck!). Hopefully the new writers (Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell were recently fired) can turn this show around just in time for the 50th anniversary.
