Another cast member of The Good Wife has departed.

Mathew Goode, who plays attorney Finn Polmar, is out as a series regular. He joined the series in 2013 and most recently rejected Alicia’s (Julianna Margulies) offer to join her next law firm.

But TVLine reports he could still make guest appearances.

His departure follows the exit of Archie Panjabi, who made her final appearance as Kalinda in the season finale.

Goode will return to Downton Abbey as Henry Talbot for the sixth and final season.

  1. My understanding is this wasn’t planned, but rather they hoped to get him back for Season 7, but he had moved on to Downton Abbey. Not a surprise, given how underused he was in (the mess that was) Season 6 – I saw this coming, but still sad to see him go – they really didn’t use him enough and I think a lot of fans are disappointed in that.

  2. Goode exited in the season final. He suddenly bailed on forming a partnership with Alicia and left conceding that his is attempt to reconcile with his wife wouldn’t work if he had any contact with her. This was part of the ending with Alicia looking to turn to Fin after suddenly deciding that she missed her friendship with Kalinda (after ignoring and avoiding Kalinda for two years and looking away during Kalinda’s goodbye, which looks like a dig at Marguiles by the editor).
