Screen Producers Australia is calling for industry comment on a proposed credits register for producers.

The draft guidelines for feature films, television drama and documentary to ensure true recognition of producerial work, have been adapted from a similar scheme operated by the Producers Guild of America.

The intention is that the register will provide a number of benefits:
· classifying eligible producers for inclusion in award
· assisting in mediation of credit dispute
· offering accreditation mark for producers to include in their screen credits

“As with the scheme implemented by our colleagues in the US, the aim of the credit register is to ensure that the person or persons who truly earn the producer credit on a production receive the appropriate recognition. The guidelines will assist us to establish the criteria for the work on a production receive that is commonly considered the work of the producer,” said Matthew Deaner, CEO of Screen Producers Australia.

  1. I would of thought they would have been pushing more for the credits to actually be shown. Not much point being on the credits, if they don’t show them or shrink them so small, they can’t be read.
