Next week SBS screens the doco Chasing Pluto, with new discoveries from the New Horizons spacecraft.
In July 2015, the New Horizons spacecraft, one of the most advanced ever built, travelled past Pluto to take the very first detailed images of the dwarf planet.
After nine years and three billion miles, humans will finally get a close look at this strange, icy world, but only if the craft can survive the final, treacherous leg of its journey, which could take it through a dangerous field of debris.
This documentary captures the dramatic new discoveries, not just about Pluto, but about the vast realm of icy bodies lurking beyond Neptune, relics of the earliest days of the solar system’s formation.
Back on Earth, the planetary scientists who have spent decades working on this mission anxiously await a signal from their spacecraft, with cameras there to witness the moment.

I was also wondering if this was the Nat Geo live special, just with a new name. Also watch it back in July but will check this out.
“…but only if the craft can survive the final, treacherous leg of its journey…”
Why does everything have to be drama these days?
Were there not any pics of Pluto to use instead of that media hog Jupiter?
Is this different to the Nat Geo doco on the Pluto mission from earlier this year?
The other doco was called mission pluto.

I watched that and it was all about how they got to pluto rather than what they found.
I’m wondering whether this doco will be about what they found rather than how they got there?
