Beware online spoilers for Season 6 of Downton Abbey, which is all but over in the UK.

Whilst the Season 6 finale has now aired, it still has a Christmas special to come.

Deadline reports the last episode drew 8.8m viewers, its best result since late 2013, which was 9.8m.

Season 6 has been generally well received with twists and turns aplenty, it notes.

While Julian Fellowes has wrapped up some storylines in the regular run he left a few key strings dangling for the Christmas special.

Seven is not expected to air the series before early 2016, meaning those Christmas spoilers are going to be very hard to avoid….

  1. ABC shops will no longer be selling series 6 on November 26. Channel 7 put a stop to that and it will not be available from ABC shops until May, that is if any are still open. Amazon UK has it from November 16.

  2. Twists and turns is probably stretching a bit – Downton is one of the few shows where you get to the end of a series and realise nothing actually happened. They do nothing mighty well though.
