On Wednesday, Nine Perth will broadcast WA Stands Together: The Nine News Bushfire Appeal to assist the victims of the recent bushfires in the state’s south-west.

The bushfire, started by lightning, claimed two lives in Yarloop and destroyed more than 160 homes and buildings across the region and over 71,000 hectares of land.

The broadcast, hosted by Tim McMillan, will be live from various locations in the state’s south-west and Perth.

Nine Perth Managing Director, Ray Wardrop said: “Nine Perth and the Nine Network want to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of the south-west who have been affected by this devastating fire and the best way to do this is to take our viewers into their community and to help raise funds to rebuild their towns.

“We’ll be talking to people who’ve had their lives changed in the past week and we’ll hear their stories. We’re also flying in performers from all over Australia to provide fantastic entertainment as well as some of the Nine Network’s biggest stars.”

Music legend Daryl Braithwaite, Perth singer-songwriter Samantha Jade, ARIA chart-topper Taylor Henderson and blues great Rick Steele and his daughter Katie Steele from Little Birdie will be among the entertainers to join the appeal and perform live.

On behalf of the TODAY Show team, Richard Wilkins will be on location in the south-west, along with local stars including Matt and Kim from Matt and Kim to the Rescue, The Block’s Luke and Ebony, The Hotplate’s Christina and Tania, and WA farmer Matt from the upcoming series of The Farmer Wants a Wife.

Viewers can donate during the telecast by calling the Sunday Times Phone Room on

Viewers will also have the opportunity to place a bid in a special Sunday Times Phone Room auction. Hosted by Nova 93.7’s Nathan, Nat & Shaun, a selection of amazing items will be presented, including a New York fashion week experience which consists of return economy class airfares, a VIP tour of the Victoria’s Secret head office by the president of the company, attending a photo shoot and having a professional portrait taken.
