Former Bachelorette contestant Richie Strahan has another shot at TV romance.

Former Bachelorette contestant Richie Strahan has been announced as the star of The Bachelor for 2016.

Strahan, 30, finished third in the 2015 series, rejected by Sam Frost.

But just as Frost was given a second chance after being infamously dumped by Blake Garvey, Strahan now returns as the object of femme attention.

“To be honest I couldn’t believe they called me up to ask,” he told News Corp.

“I’m a very private person and it’s a really big decision to put yourself out in the public arena again. I found it really hard to open up on The Bachelorette last year, but the end decision was that (by doing the show) I could meet a girl who I could pretty much spend the rest of my life with. It’s a pretty big carrot.”

Strahan has described himself as professional abseiler keen for an ‘outdoorsy’ girl.

“I wouldn’t go a date with a girl if I didn’t think she had potential. She should be a little bit lady and a little bit bogan

Yesterday there were reports the series has a new location, moving from Hunters Hill to a property in Abbott Place, Glenorie.

  1. It makes sense that every new Bachelor and Bachelorette will be a contestant from a previous series. Its the best and easiest way to both fully screen test a candidate and ensure they resonate with audiences. I think Richie is great and a safe choice but he is quite ‘vanilla’ to be the star – I think they might struggle to find enough backstory for a series. I remember Richie’s friends being strange and unpleasant during the home visit – I wonder how that will play out this year.
Michael was far more interesting but more polarising – many people didn’t like him.
I wonder if Heather will be the next Bachelorette or if she’s fallen out of favour with Ten after her attempt at Im A Celeb Now.

    1. I agree that he was bland but they cast these series well so I’m sure they will plan it well.
Honestly I’d be shocked if Laurina wasn’t the next Bachelorette.

    2. Heather isn’t even qualified to be a bachelorette since she has a boyfriend, or did the last time I saw her asked about it.

As for her on I’m A Celeb now, I really like her work on it. Like seeing her (and Joel) host that almost every night.

  2. I hate that they use former losers to come back again, Id much rather fresh meat and a new personality…. You had one chance and you were rejected, move on with your life and stop trying to be a fame hungry w*hore….
