Seven’s Racing.com channel will add coverage of Hong Kong’s Happy Valley races from today.

It will broadcast the final eleven race meetings of the 2015/16 Hong Kong season before showcasing all 83 race meetings of the upcoming 2016/17 season that commences in September, including the world famous Longines Hong Kong International Races in December, in a multiyear agreement.

A preview program will commence an hour before the night meetings in Hong Kong, involving Shane Anderson, Clint Hutchison and Brent Zerafa and Matthew Campbell.

The HKJC-produced Racing To Win will also be available on the Racing.com digital platform the day before a meeting and included in the broadcast.

David Moodie, Chairman of Racing Victoria and Racing.com,  said, “The launch of the free-to-air Racing.com channel has been a significant success story for the Victorian thoroughbred racing industry as we have been able to make our sport accessible to more people in more places than ever before.

“Our free-to-air coverage reaches 96% of the Australian population which gives racing a massive opportunity.

“We have come a long way in a short period of time since the launch of Racing.com as joint venture with Seven West Media in August, 2015.”

Coverage of Hong Kong racing will be available to Australian viewers on Racing.com free-to-air channel 68 (regional), channel 78 (metropolitan), Racing.com digital platform, 7live.com.au and Plus 7 digital platforms.

Hong Kong racing will not be accessed on Racing.com Foxtel channel 529 due to a contractual arrangement between Foxtel and a third party.

  1. Many Aust’n trainers & jockeys in HK. Is this restricted to Happy Valley only or also to include the larger, newer Sha Tin course (both owned by the HKJC). They do have races at night but with only 2 hrs time difference with AEST most will be over by 10pm HK (Midnt AEST). “Racing to Win” is broadcast from 1am HKT (3am AEST). This is an ‘analysis/preview’ show, not actual races.

  2. Oh Chuck, do you live in NZ?? Last nights Happy Valley races were 9.15-12.50am EST, nothing near 3am. The Sunday races are held during the day too, not 3am either. You may think its a waste of spectrum but, personally, Id rather have channels like this than home shopping as datacasting.
