Absent Sonia Kruger on holidays, says Nine.

Scheduled annual leave, and not a viewer reaction to controversial comments, is behind Sonia Kruger's current absence, says Nine.

Sonia Kruger has been absent from Today Extra due to scheduled annual leave, and not as a result of reactions to recent controversial comments on air.

A Nine spokeswoman assures Fairfax that Kruger’s contract was “ongoing” and that rumours she would not be returning to host The Voice were “not correct”. Next year the show is not produced by Endemol Shine but by ITV Australia.

Kruger has been on holidays with Seven News boss Craig Macpherson for the past fortnight.

  1. If she wants to keep her gig in the voice, she could do to keep her opinions a little more to herself. It’s a highly successful international brand which nine licence, whoever owns the format internationally isn’t going to want the brand getting trashed by having the host of its Australian version spouting off about hot button political issues.

    1. Whilst I agree with you, it is the brands that she endorses that will also have the right to say and do what they want. Celebrities and sports people trade on their personal image to earn the dollars they do. She should have been savvy enough to know that she was shooting herself in the foot from a brand endorsement perspective when she made those comments. Most of us don’t have the fortitude to speak out when we know the real implications (ie job loss). So, if she was acting true – then full marks to her.
