US Today show co-host Billy Bush has apologised for his language in a leaked 2005 video with Donald Trump in which he

“Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed,” Bush said in a statement issued by NBC News. “It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago — I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”

Presidential candidate Donald Trump has also apologised for his language after the tape rocked the Republican election campaign.

In the tape, Trump talks about how he tried to seduce former Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell.

“I did try and f*** her. She was married,” he told Bush in 2005.

“And I moved on her very heavily.

“In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.'”

The discussion occurred when Trump was about to make a cameo appearance on Days of Our Lives, greeted on set by actress Arianne Zucker.

“I’ve gotta use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” he said.

“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them.

“It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.

“And when you’re a star they let you do it.

“You can do anything.

“Grab them by the p***y. You can do anything.”

Trump apologised in a statement released by his campaign.

“This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago,” he said.

“Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — [I’m] not even close.

“I apologise if anyone was offended.”

Bush, who hosts Today from 9am, is the nephew of President George H.W. Bush, cousin of President George W. Bush and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

He also had the first interview with swimmer Ryan Lochte who falsely claimed he was robbed at gunpoint in Rio. Lochte perpetuated his story during the interview with Bush.

  1. First, I think Trumps comments were obscene, but to be fair to Bush, I suspect hosts and staffers on these shows are told to just blow smoke up the celebrity guests and go along with what they say and play the game. Given both Bush and Trump had experience in broadcasting, isn’t the golden rule always to assume a mic is on?

    1. Given NBC is highly left slanted it would be a surprise if they had a ‘Get Trumped’ unit searching through every reel in the archive to find something on him.

      1. You are half right – Access Hollywood (an NBC show) was looking for footage related to his comments about Apprentice contestants and came across this.

However NBC held off releasing the footage – they were scared of getting sued.
