Tom Arnold reveals up to $900,000 pay packet for I’m a Celebrity

Updated: There's 900,000 reasons why Tom Arnold agreed to endure creepy crawlies and offal in the jungle.

Tom Arnold has taken the unusual step of revealing how much he was being paid to appear on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

Responding to a question on Twitter about why he agreed to appear on the show, the former Roseanne star revealed he was being paid between $600,000 – $700,000.

Presuming that was a US rate, it translates to $779,000 – $908,000 Australian dollar.

Arnold, who would doubtless have attracted a fee much heftier than all of the Australian participants, was presumably signed for a base rate regardless of length of stay, then various incentives to remain to the end of the show.

The going rate for Australian talent, excluding superstars like Shane Warne, is rumoured to be around $150,000 sliding up to $350,000 for those who make it to the end.

  1. The show has become way too Keira focused. The only time other people get any air time is when they are either having an argument with her or they are voted into a challenge with her. I’ve never seen someone ham it up for the cameras quite like her. She can turn on the waterworks at the snap of a finger. Also seeing Tom Arnold’s pay packet makes me lean more to that he was probably just a stunt casting and was only ever contracted for two weeks much like Hasselhoff in Celebrity Apprentice.

    1. Yes they r going to pay someone almost a million dollars for a stunt gig of two weeks ..if that was the case I’m sure they would have got a bigger name then tom .. it’s obvious it totally back fired on them .. he just didn’t rise to the task

    2. Kiera focussed? That’s only due to people thinking it is hilarious to put her in trial after trial. To either make her leave the show as she hates it (and they don’t like her there so hoping it makes her walk), or to have her break down in a trial even further (as again they don’t like that she’s there).

Personally I keep hoping for Lisa and Nat to get into a trial as they’re the only ones who haven’t yet been given a publicly voted trial.

  2. Wow, that is a huge number. No wonder ch10 has big gaps in its schedule at times across the year. All I can say is Keira-Kerching!!! I bet Naz would be tempted to give up gigs and do this each year, cos comedians don’t make huge $$$ on the circuit.

  3. Actually that figure doesn’t surprise me I thought it would have been more, but forget all the expensive imports, Kiera is rapidly becoming the star of the show. Regardless of what Australia thinks the Producers are going to put her in every challenge they can. I would be interested to know the shows total budget it can’t be cheap. Although it gets strong ratings by 10 standards I don’t think it would last on 9 or 7.
