So with TBBT still being number one, why has nine treated new eps so shabbily this year, I was starting to think it had fallen out of favour.
I’m surprised that Bull is so high in the ratings. I haven’t checked it out yet, would it be worth my while? Of the list I watch TBBT, This is Us, Chicago Med, Mom, Gotham and The Flash, with occasional NCIS and infrequently The Simpsons.
I love Bull. Each episode gets better and better. It is a a different take on a law show. If you like procedual type shows like NCIS then you’ll probably like this too. Plus Michael Weatherly ( Dinozzo from NCIS ) is the star of this. He plays the part well.
Another positive vote for Bull – I have seen a few episodes so far – its strictly not necessary to see them in order or see the pilot first but the premise is good and the cast do a good job.
TBBT’s quality has really dropped in the last few seasons which is a shame…
Personally – I was expecting to be disappointed by This Is Us but I’ve found its getting better and better with each episode, its a shame it hasn’t rated better in Australia but its probably the best US made drama on FTA TV at the moment (may be the only US Drama on FTA at the moment?).
Some of those shows were flops when shown here, and others have only gained a mediocre audience. After trying to watch This is Us (not a flop here, but too heavily melodramatic for me), I can understand this because it seems that, to state the obvious, American viewers are different to Australian viewers. Some shows will never translate across cultures, just as some of ours won’t make it in the American market.
Personally I prefer a lot of the American drama shows. I find the Australian comedy not very funny, which to me, often makes us look like idiots. There is a difference between funny ha ha and funny stupid. To me, the bad language in comedy jokes is terrible too. Even the kids cartoons of today are awful, often ugly characters, they don’t give the right messages. Thats how I see them.
Wow, should I turn in my TV viewers badge, I only watch 6 of the top 50……..
You did better than me! I watch 1 of those shows and i have seen about a half season of 2 others.
I much prefer British shows…….. I would love to see a British list!
I to would have a few Pommy and Euros in my list for sure.
No wonder Ten invest so much in their US shows over the years, NCIS foremost.
US total population in 2016 was 324m, Oz 24.3m, a ratio of 13:1. US 20-49 was 126.4m, Oz 10m, a ratio of 12.6:1. For a rough conversion of the TV ratings US to Oz multiply the figures by 8 then div by 100. (double, double, double div 100.)
On these figures Ch10 should be #1, 4 shows in top 6, pity about reality.
Surprised that 2 Broke Girls made an appearance on that list
and yet it got cancelled.
Wow, 18 million+ for NCIS. Thats fantastic and number 2. But still the number 1 top drama.
Thanks for this David.
Bull should be third on list of total viewers. It averaged 15.5 million viewers ahead of This is Us
