Foxtel will marathon screen the entire third season of Orange is the New Black in June.

In a move designed to match Netflix, it will air on the Showcase channel at 2pm Friday, June 12th. All 14 episodes will air back-to-back, with each episode ad break-fee and be available on demand via Foxtel’s Anytime service straight after it airs.

It’s the first time an entire series has been broadcast at the same time as the US on Foxtel, with the scheduling designed to prevent it from being upstaged by the streaming platform.

Netflix, which has the streaming premiere rights, will stream the entire season from the same time.

Season three will start again on Showcase at 9.00am on Saturday, June 13, followed by weekly episodes at 7:30pm Sundays from June 14th.

Based on the best-selling memoir by Piper Kerman, Orange is the New Black is a fierce and funny comedy drama series that goes inside the walls of an American all-women’s prison with an unforgettable and irreverent group of inmates.

The Emmy Award-winning series stars Taylor Schilling (Piper) as a woman sent to prison for a crime she committed in her youthful past, trading her comfortable New York life for one of unexpected camaraderie and conflict behind bars.

Former MTV Australia and Foxtel presenter, Ruby Rose, joins the cast in season three, as a rumoured new love interest for both Piper and Alex (Laura Prepon).

Orange is the New Black also stars Michelle Hurst (Miss Claudette), Kate Mulgrew (Galina ‘Red’ Reznikov), Natasha Lyonne (Nicky Nichols), Laura Prepon (Alex Vause), Michael Harney (Sam Healy), Maria Dizzia (Polly Harper), Pablo Schreiber (Pornstache) and Australian Actress Yael Stone (Lorna Morello).

A marathon seasons one and two will also screen from 3.30pm Saturday, June 6th on Showcase.

  1. Good that answers that question.

It’s the first time they are competing directly with Netflix, and want to stop people subscribing to Netflix to binge on Orange is the New Black.
